Samsung S6 Edge is Quite the Slim Beauty

The Samaung S6 Edge is light, thin and beautiful. However, every single surface – front, back and curved sides – is a fingerprint magnet. You’ll spend time cleaning your phone. Or just get a cover/case for it. It’s worth it, however.

Particular Edge Features

night mode – the Edge stays lite up during the hours YOU specify in the settings. It’s not so bright it will keep you awake but it’s readable. Well, unless you can’t read without glasses. But if you are young with young eyes you’ll always know what time it is if you happen to be woken up suddenly in the middle of the night.

The phone comes with all sorts of help files – including those for how to use Edge

When a call is missed it makes a tab on the right side of the Edge. I can access this quickly – “pulling” the tap Into the middle of the screen to bring out this graphic to see who I missed. Kinda Kool.

Samsung Pay

As you can see here: Samsung Pay only allows a limited number of credit cards. hopefully, that number will increase because my card is not listed at the moment.

a fairly easy process to start, ie log into your account

To ADD a credit card, tap ADD. This brings up a screen which has a window in the center. Hold your credit card within that window so the software can scan it. If it is successfully scanned the next screen pops up for you to correct (if necessary) or add the number and name on the card. In order to keep the info within this app secure your fingerprint is required to open it every time. If you do have a credit card they have on their list, the last step in adding it for use is the app software will send a text code to a phone number. Silly me, I used my Google Voice number and I think that’s a mistake. In any case, I’ll keep checking on this feature and in the future I’ll have more info to report.

The EDGE phone comes with the usual AC adapter and the headset comes in plastic case with extra ear buds. This is the new style ear buds.

Camera

This is actually a very nice camera on the Edge phone.

low light using default settings. Not bad at all. Nice detail.

My mother’s red bush. Red tends to be difficult for digital cameras to properly capture without getting over saturated. It’s not quite a perfect photo, but it’s close.

I’ve never been able to get a good shot of the Moon with a phone camera. However, one evening using custom camera settings, I was able to get a way more successful photo of Moon than ever before.

And using the phone’s edit app, I cropped the original photo and got this:

And, here is my favorite photo taken with the Samsung S6 Edge. Using the BURST mode, I tried to capture a butterfly as it fed on flowers and picked the best picture. I cropped this, but you can see how sharp and perfect it is. Wow!

I really like this particular video feature of the Samsung S6 Edge. Set the Mode to Fast Motion. Make a video, then using the editing app you can program WHEN the video speeds up and WHEN it slows down.

This is a screen grab of the editor where you just scrub the indicators to the spots where the speed changes. You watch the video at the top of the screen to fine tune your efforts. Now, that is damn cool!

This is a beautiful cell phone. Even if I have to keep wiping the screen. Samsung Pay is still too new a feature to fully review. It’s getting there and it’s obvious that Samsung is dedicated to full security – I couldn’t even make screengrabs because the software refuses to during the card scanning procedure. I’m sure Samsung will continue to work out the kinks…and add more banks to their program.
