Everytime you turn a corner there seems to be another device which will let you watch video on an incredibly small screen. TwinMos has created the PMP 525, but it’s got a couple of nice features that make it more than just another way to distract yourself. There’s a build-in MIC and Line-in jack which lets you record MP3’s willy nilly. Plus, you can listen to MP3, WMA and OGG audio files. There’s an FM Tuner in case you get bored with your loaded audio files.
When you want to view video there’s a choice of MPEG 1, 2, and 4 video, as well as JPG images. What is cool is that it’s got a CompactFlash Card (Type I and II) Memory slot so you can have anywhere from 128MB to 2GB Flash Memory at any one time and obviously with more than one card it’s really unlimited. Connect this to your system via a Mini USB 2.0 connector.
The claim that the battery will last 4.5 hours when watching video doesn’t sound very long, but it’s not much different for many cell phones that can also play video.
It seems normal for a rechargeable Li-Polymer battery. Of course, ‘we’ have become a bit jaded with our toys. We always want more. So it’s good news that the company reassures us the Firmware is upgradeable.
