A couple of weeks ago an update arrived at everyone’s Samsung Galaxy Note ll phone. Unless you haven’t turned on your phone it should be:
Android Version: 4.1.2
Baseband: L900VPAMA7
Kernel Version: 3.0.31-903705
Build Number: JZO54K.L900VPAMA7
The first thing you will notice is that a series of Help windows pop up at various times helping the customer see and review new features.

One Very cool new feature is being able to edit your Notification panel. Move the buttons exactly where you want them in the exact order you like. Removing the ones you don’t use to the “available” section.

New Changes in the Camera settings – volume keys can be used to zoom or as camera key.
The 4.1.2 update also adds the ability to make the camera flash when getting a notification. This setting is under Settings/Accessibility and only flashes once.

For those of you who like using the Smart Stay feature you will notice that now the icon is Always present in the notification bar. Previously, the “Eye” wouldn’t pop up unless it was looking for a face. After the update the EYE is always on but ‘lights up’ when it don’t find your happy face. If you don’t wish to use this feature don’t forget to disable smart stay and smart rotation.
I’ve also heard on the grapevine that after the update only fonts of the ttf variety will work but I haven’t actually tried this out. I have to go looking for non ttf fonts to try this out. In any case, I’m pleased with the update.
